Ahmedabad City Police is a commissionerate under Gujarat Police, organised into seven zones and fourteen divisions covering thirty-nine police stations, alongside a women's police station and the traffic stations. Gandhinagar is separate, policed as its own district rather than by Ahmedabad City, and the GIFT City area sits on that side of the line rather than inside the city commissionerate.
The boundary moved in 2025. Reported changes notified in May that year brought a series of fringe stretches into Ahmedabad City Police from the rural and Gandhinagar sides, including the ring road around Bopal, the Gota, Hebatpur and Khodiyar belt, the Adalaj side around Tragad and Zundal, and the Changodar and Aslali stretch, each attached to a named city station. Anyone out on that fringe who assumes the rural police still cover them may start at the wrong station.
Gujarat does offer an e-FIR, and it is narrower than the name suggests. It covers vehicle and mobile phone theft, only where the accused is unidentified and no force was used, and the submission is not itself an FIR: an investigating officer verifies the complainant, reported as within forty-eight hours, before the station in charge registers a case. A hidden camera or tracker complaint, which usually has a suspect in mind, falls outside that route entirely and means attending the police station.

A sweep reports what was found in the areas examined, with the methods used, at the time of the visit. Finding nothing does not prove nothing was ever there, and no sweep keeps a space clean afterwards. We would rather say that plainly than promise complete detection.

Bug sweeping in Ahmedabad: common questions
Can I file an e-FIR in Ahmedabad for a hidden camera or tracker?
No. Gujarat's e-FIR covers vehicle and mobile phone theft, and only where the accused is unidentified and no force was used. It is also not an FIR on submission: an officer verifies the complainant first, reported as within forty-eight hours, before a case is registered. Which police cover Bopal, Gota and the SG Highway fringe?
Ahmedabad City Police, following jurisdiction changes reported in May 2025 that moved several fringe stretches in from the rural and Gandhinagar sides and attached them to named city stations. If your address is out on that fringe, confirm the current station rather than assuming the rural police still cover it.
Do you cover Gandhinagar and GIFT City?
Yes, we work across both. Worth knowing for reporting: Gandhinagar is policed separately from Ahmedabad City, and the GIFT City area sits on that side, so a device found there is a matter for the Gandhinagar side rather than the city commissionerate.
Which numbers should I use in Ahmedabad?
112 for an emergency and 1930 for cyber crime. Gujarat Police lists 181 as the Abhayam women's helpline, which is the state's own line rather than the number used in several other states, so advice copied from elsewhere may send you to the wrong place.
