Two things Visakhapatnam pages usually get wrong
The first is jurisdiction on the industrial side. Visakhapatnam City Police is a commissionerate with its office at Police Barracks, Suryabagh, and it covers the corporation area including Gajuwaka, the steel plant side, Duvvada, Rushikonda and Madhurawada. But after the April 2022 district reorganisation, the pharma and SEZ belt sits outside it: Atchutapuram, Rambilli, Parawada and Sabbavaram fall to the neighbouring district force. A plant manager at Atchutapuram who rings the city commissionerate is in the wrong queue on the one day that matters.
The second is the Disha framework, which a great many pages still cite. The Andhra Pradesh Disha Bill never received Presidential assent, and the state cabinet withdrew it in August 2026 after the home ministry advised that the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita already cover the ground. The Disha SOS app has been rebranded as the SHAKTHI app, which sends a short audio and video clip with your location to the control room when the SOS is pressed. The Disha Mahila police stations, including the one opened in Visakhapatnam in 2020, continue to function. So the stations and the app are real; the Act is not.
On reporting, the state citizen portal offers lodging a petition and checking its status, which is not the same as registering an FIR, and we could find no official page describing an AP e-FIR for this kind of complaint. Plan on attending the police station. The city's cyber crime police station is active but the funnel is narrow: press reporting for January to August 2026 put it at more than a thousand complaints producing around a hundred and forty FIRs. What you can document decides which side of that ratio you land on. The district administration publishes 181 as the women's helpline here, alongside 112 for emergencies and 1930 for cyber crime.
