Bug Sweeping Services in Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh runs on steel, power and mining, and its commercial risk is concentrated in Raipur, the Durg and Bhilai belt and the coal districts. The sweep is the same wherever we work, combining radio-frequency analysis, a non-linear junction detector for electronics left switched off, optical and thermal checks and a physical inspection. What this page adds is the state layer, and a warning: because Chhattisgarh was carved out of Madhya Pradesh, a great deal of advice written for the parent state gets applied here and is wrong.

One commissionerate, and two more that have been announced but not created

Raipur became a police commissionerate on 23 January 2026 and is the only one in Chhattisgarh. Bilaspur and Durg have both been publicly proposed, and neither has been notified, so they remain superintendent-led districts. This distinction matters more than it sounds: an announcement by a minister is not a change in who takes your complaint, and until a notification issues the old chain applies.

Everywhere outside the Raipur municipal area, the chain runs station house officer, sub-divisional officer, additional superintendent, superintendent, then the range inspector general. Inside it, the chain runs through assistant and deputy commissioners to the Commissioner. Along with the commissionerate came a transfer of prohibitory order powers from the district collector to the Commissioner inside the city, while licensing for bars, events and entertainment stayed with the collector.

The state has thirty three districts, five of them created in September 2022. Be careful with counts here, because the stale figures appear on government websites rather than only on third party ones: at least one state portal still refers to twenty seven districts and another lists twenty eight. Both numbers were correct once, which is exactly why they persist.

There is no e-FIR here at all, and 1091 is the women's helpline

Chhattisgarh has no online FIR facility. Not a narrow one limited to vehicle theft, as several states run, but none at all. The citizen portal's own online complaint service, its tenant verification and its character certificate service are all still marked as coming soon rather than live. What the portal does offer is read only: viewing an FIR that already exists, checking a case, and searching records of missing persons, arrested persons and stolen vehicles. So an FIR in this state is registered in person at a police station, or through 112.

That also means the Madhya Pradesh rule people sometimes quote here, about an e-FIR lapsing if you do not attend the station within about three days, has nothing to attach itself to in Chhattisgarh. If you find a page describing eligibility limits for a Chhattisgarh e-FIR, it has imported them from another state.

On helplines, Chhattisgarh diverges from its parent state and the difference matters. The women's helpline here is 1091. Madhya Pradesh publishes 1090 for women; in Chhattisgarh 1090 is the crime stopper line, which is a different service entirely. The 181 number is neither a police line nor a grievance line here: it belongs to the women and child development side as a one stop centre helpline, which is different again from Madhya Pradesh, where 181 is the Chief Minister's grievance service. The rest of the state police list runs 112 for emergencies, 1098 for children, 1930 for cyber financial fraud, 139 for railways, 1033 for highways and 1933 for narcotics. District sites additionally publish older numbers such as 100 and 108.

One technical caution if you are checking this yourself: the citizen portal's page source contains an old block of disused code giving a different women's number. The live page shows 1091, and anything quoting the other figure has read the source rather than the page.

No camera duty, no hostel regulation, and guest record duties that expire

No Chhattisgarh law requires a hotel, lodge, homestay, hostel or paying guest establishment to install cameras. We checked the tourism board's registration requirements, which do not mention cameras even as a form field, the state's shops and establishments rules including the 2025 conditions for women on night shifts, which set out eight requirements and none of them a camera, and we looked for a general public safety or harassment statute of the kind that exists in Assam and Karnataka. Chhattisgarh has none. The homestay policy of 2025 is not published in full, so we cannot speak to its conditions and do not pretend otherwise.

There is also no regulation of private hostels or paying guest accommodation at all, which is worth knowing if you are a student or a parent here. No Act, no rules, no statewide order. Tenant and paying guest verification exists only as a voluntary service through a police app.

What does exist is weaker and shorter lived than people assume. A statewide directive in mid 2026 required safety audits of coaching centres, malls, hotels and multi storey buildings, and cameras appear in it as something to be inspected rather than something you must install. In Raipur city, police directed hotel and bar operators in September 2026 to record guest identity, keep their existing cameras working and preserve footage for handover, and served notices on operators whose cameras or registers were defective. That is a city police direction rather than a statute, and it applies in the commissionerate area only.

Guest record duties elsewhere in the state come from district collectors' prohibitory orders, which is a different route from Madhya Pradesh where such orders come from police commissioners. Two districts issued them in July 2026 requiring landlords and establishments to furnish tenant details before renting. Orders of that kind last two months at most unless extended, so those would have lapsed around late September 2026 unless renewed. Before relying on one, check it is still alive, and never assume an order in one district binds another.

We found no advisory from Chhattisgarh Police about hidden or spy cameras in hotels, hostels, trial rooms or washrooms. The only hidden camera item on their site is a tender to purchase detection equipment, which is procurement rather than public guidance.
